Darwin Initiative on Google Earth

The Darwin Initiative maintains a database of geographic locations associated with Darwin projects. Individual projects can submit location data which are displayed on Google maps on the project details page (projects - go to the 'Submit project locations' tool at the bottom of your project details page). These data are available here in a Google Earth download.

The file presents location data for all Darwin projects, and also includes a track showing the route sailed by Darwin in 1831 - 1836 on board the Beagle. It illustrates the global reach of the Darwin Initiative and the global scale of Darwin's five year voyage.

The information in these files is updated on a continuing basis and the file is rebuilt automatically, so check back from time to time to obtain updates.
