Project description

Purpose

To develop a comprehensive strategy for the critically endangered Brown -Headed Spider Monkey (Ateles fusciceps), vulnerable primates and habitats in NW Ecuador based on a programme of monitoring, education and sustainable livelihoods within local communities

Network established to monitor primate status and habitat using participatory field surveys and trained village-level parabiologists.

GIS database established at Los Cedros Biological Reserve.

Masters level training for Ecuadorian Partners.

Training centre for Parabiologists and local staff established at Los Cedros Biological Reserve.

Parabiologists trained as certified primate and habitat ecologists.
