Project description

Purpose
to support local economic development based on sustainable exploitation of the boreal forests of Central Siberia, in order to encourage conservation rather than destruction.
Activities
Scoping trip: -learn from the IUCN-CIDA project on NTFP development in Kamchatka (IUCN 2006) and the ongoing Tree Council Darwin project in Tomsk; identify skill-gaps that could be filled from the UK; examine project logistics, match funding etc; prepare a draft project logframe.
