Resources for projects

Submit project locations for project 13030

To add locations to the map of your project, either gather together the required data in an Excel file, or use Google Earth or some other tool to generate a KML or KMZ file.

Google Earth KML or KMZ

Use Google Earth to build a set of placemarks for your project. Organise them all within a folder, select that folder, right click the folder and select "Save Place As...". You will then be able to save the folder of placemarks as a KML or KMZ format file on your hard drive. Use the form on this page to upload the file.

Excel file

Please gather the required information into an Excel file, and use this form to upload to the website.

You must supply your email address to allow verification of the data.

Data will be manually reviewed and added to the website.

Please use this Excel file - Darwin_locations_template.xls - as a template for storing your locations. Note that all fields indicated in the file must be supplied. Please do not alter the order or naming of fields in the Excel file, or the name of the worksheet. You may change the name of the file if you wish.

To calculate coordinates for locations, you can visit your project details page and use the map there - it includes a tool for selecting locations and displaying coordinates.

Note that you can use HTML in your text. For instance, you could include a link to a webpage for more information, or even a photograph. Technical help is available from the webmaster - see the contact page.

Fields that are highlighted are required.
